Who else had the urge to dance in the rain when the heavens finally opened and gave us a decent drenching. Out walking this morning, I noticed that the gardens, grass amongst other things had a little more life in them after the weekends deluge.
In Queensland, September was the tenth-driest since records commenced in 1900. While we all rejoiced in the recent rain and no doubt like most talked about the weather over a coffee or a passing conversation with a stranger, we are not out of the woods yet and we need more! That extra TLC we were giving our gardens recently, guess what, it still needs it.
While I was eating my dinner last night it dawned on me, living in suburbia, our gardens may be effected by the lack of rain and think no more of it. Our lawns turn brown, flowers droop but life goes on. Tonight, when you sit down to your meal, have a think about where the food on your plate is coming from. So, while we can water our gardens, how about we 'water' a farmer's garden, shop local or go to a farmer's market, support those who are doing it much tougher than us.
Here's to more ran, where we need it!
