The Brooke’s Blooms team recently embarked on our annual team bonding day. We hold the event every year to solidify our deep respect and appreciation we have for our fellow staff. But in true Bloomie fashion, we did it in a setting that embodied our defining ethos: grit.
The team embarked on a grueling 10km obstacle course staggered by over 30 deft defying obstacles. The purpose of all of this: mental toughness, self-belief, and a well-earned endorphin kick. But most of all, the event was about teamwork, about bonding - because nothing says solidarity like a healthy dose of shared pain.
We struggled our way through courses ranging from rope swings to cargo net crawls to unscalable walls. But arguably the most challenging aspect of the day was wading through a torrent of wet deep mud threatening to engulf us with every step. But in true Bloomie fashion we pulled together and helped each other struggle through the glug.
Shared experiences like the Raw Challenge are what help us connect and grow as individuals. One always remembers the hard times, sometimes fondly, sometimes not, but what we will always remember is the support we had for each other, the encouragement, the feeling that together we can conquer anything. As the team returned to the camp site, bodies aching, dirty, muddy and cold, they were treated to a well-earned barbeque. And every person was smiling ear to ear, because together they had tackled adversity and overcome.
