We were approached by Garden Edging Solutions to put together a garden design for the Qld Garden Expo.
The brief was to create a garden where you could retreat to and think deeply or carefully about something. The Brooke's Blooms team put their heads together and came up with the design for the entire space including sculptures, edging, paving, pond feature and planting schedule.
Now I've spoken about Corten steel on previous blogs, and as you can see from the photos it's not just used for edging, the versatility of this material is endless. The garden featured two incredible sculptures as well as a running water feature all custom made using the Corten.
Using a talented local artist we found a beautiful antique door and transformed it into a work of art. Inspired by street art, the door reflected the busy life and hustle and bustle of the city.
Plant selection as in any garden was the key to bringing everything together. We wanted to create a lush and dense feel that would complement the gardens features as well as adding a dash of colour. Using a mixture of native and exotic plants we were able to construct a peaceful garden with a soothing atmosphere.
The space and sculptures were engineered and constructed by Garden Edging Solutions and the Brooke's Blooms team completed the plant layout and put all the finish touches on the space so that it was all ready for the show.
The show would run from Friday to Sunday with our garden to be judged on the opening day. Friday arrived and three of our team members set off from base and followed the Pines up the highway to the Nambour Show Grounds. Gates opened and in flooded the crowds. They got their bearings and headed off to meet the many suppliers and nurseries that were on display at the show.
The excitement was building and whispers of when the Best Display would be awarded started to swirl. Finally, after a morning of deliberating the judges handed down their verdict and awarded us Best Display, an incredible achievement and one we are so very proud of.
A big thank you to everyone who helped bring this garden to life we could not have done it without you.
