On 14 November I attended the 2015 Landscape Queensland Construction Excellence Awards Gala Dinner at the Brisbane Hilton.

In the landscaping world this is regarded as the “night of nights” where industry leaders are recognised and the bar set ever higher each year. As you can imagine this annual event is a great source of inspiration to me. It also fuels my ambition to deliver work that is a cut above the rest.

That said, I was absolutely blown away to receive not one, but two awards, and to be named as a finalist in another two categories. As I heard “Brooke’s Blooms” named the winner for Best Residential Maintenance and again for Best Commercial Maintenance I was filled with pride and gratitude for my amazing crew, whose expertise, dedication and hard work has been imperative to the materialization of my vision and passion. I could also not suppress a sense of pride in myself. Landscaping and design is my passion and life’s ambition. To be recognised as a leader in the industry I daily pour my heart and soul into was truly so rewarding.

And to receive these accolades from Landscape Queensland was amazing.

Landscape Queensland is the peak industry body that represents the interests of the state’s landscape and garden maintenance contractors, designers and suppliers of products and services.

With regards to my residential maintenance award, which I received for a garden in Greenslopes, judges said the garden was immaculate:

“This garden is immaculately presented and forms a wonderful setting for this beautiful Queenslander home. The garden was abundant in flowers and not a weed to be seen. Impressive clean hedging throughout creates a series of spaces within the garden.”

The commercial garden I received my award for is in St Lucia. This is what judges had to say:

“What made this site stand out from the other entrants was the obvious consistent and diligent effort made over time to bring the site to the condition in which it is currently presented. The landscape maintenance challenges presented by this site are significant however they have not prevented outstanding results from being achieved.”

As if receiving these awards wasn’t enough, Brooke’s Blooms was named a finalist in two categories under residential, design and construct which recognizes outstanding design creativity and workmanship.

Receiving these awards has only fuelled my passion and I am excited to pour this passion into my projects and who knows, set the bar higher again next year.
